Record shopping in Chicago

Chicago might be the best record-shopping city in America, and it isn't just volume — it's range. The city that birthed house music and modern blues still sells both by the crate: Dusty Groove's world-famous soul and funk stock, Gramaphone's DJ pedigree, and a dozen neighborhood shops from Logan Square to Hyde Park where the dollar bins actually contain music. Plan a full day; the shops cluster well for walking.

What diggers say

Walked in the door, what did I see? A vinyl treasure trove staring back at me! Disco, hip-hop, and old-school rap, Rock ‘n’ roll legends, every groove intact! Reckless Records, turn it up loud, Crates so deep, they could shake the ground! From disco beats to Zeppelin’s roar, Spin that record, give me more!

Small little shop hidden away in the middle of the big city. There is a nice variety of records to choose from, but not so many CDs, but the handful of cassette tapes really take you back to your youth. If your In the area stop by and say hi, workers are super helpful and respect your space as a shopper.

A cute record store with a large selection of great albums and music merch. I came to trade in some records and pick up a limited signed copy of BRAT they had. The trade in value was fair and I was happy with it.
