What to expect when selling records to a store

How much do record stores pay?
Typically 30–50% of what they can resell a record for, in cash — often more in store credit. Common titles in rough shape may fetch pennies or get passed on entirely; clean original pressings of sought-after albums are where the money is.
Should I sell the whole collection at once?
Stores love whole collections but price them conservatively. If you have time, pull the valuable titles (check sold listings on Discogs) and sell those individually; let the store make an offer on the rest.
What condition matters?
Vinyl condition first, sleeve second. Scratches that you can feel with a fingernail kill a record's value. Store records upright, and never stack them flat.
