Record shopping in Philadelphia

Philly record shopping is walkable, opinionated, and cheap by East Coast standards. South Street and Fishtown carry the flag — soul and gospel 45s are the local specialty (this is the city of Philadelphia International, after all), and the dollar bins across the city are genuinely playable.

What diggers say

This store is the best. It has the best selection of cds. They had some I haven’t ever seen at another store. I also love the music they play. They have great shirt and posters too. Their vinyl collection was also so cool and very impressive. I loved coming here. They also have really nice pins that I picked though.

Good shop. However, I felt frustrated trying to navigate the record collection they have— everything felt very disorganized, scattered, and I had to ask staff several times to help me figure out where “Tom Petty” is or where “Bob Dylan” is.

Walking into Long in the Tooth is like walking into a dream! Legit. They have everything from old school Beatles and Dylan to underground jazz/black classical recordings of Duke and Bird! You can also find modern stuff as well. Truly a GEM! 🎶 🎧
