Don’t be fooled by lack of photos of this place - owner doesn’t like (or allow) photos being taken, but this is a true NY gem of a store. Great stock of original records of African music (Nigeria, Congo, Senegal etc.), 45s, CDs and a lot of original, still sealed cassettes. Wow!
I went there out of curiosity and was amazed by the quantity and quality of their records. I wasn't really prepared to see all my favorite African artists there. I got myself some great records, Senegalese cassettes, and even VHS tapes. The prices were acceptable and I am looking forward to going back there soon.
An amazing gem of a record store! I had an incredible time browsing around their selection of records, books, and art pieces. The owners of the store are very kind and knowledgeable. I was not very familiar with African music, but the owners recommended two artists to me.
Gave my partner a record player for his birthday just so that we can shop here. Knowing absolutely nothing about the genre of music, we got plenty of recommendations and were able to hear a few tracks from the albums. Walked out with a stack of records we can listen to while making dinner.
