Record shopping in Seattle

Seattle shops carry the city's whole musical memory — grunge 45s at Easy Street, deep jazz at Bop Street's heirs, and Ballard/Fremont shops where the staff will actually walk you to the record. Rain makes for good digging weather; Sundays are safe because nearly everything here opens seven days.

What diggers say

Easy Street is first and foremost a record store, with a cute (and somewhat kitschy) brunch spot attached. They don’t take reservations, but our group of five only waited 10 or 15 minutes on Saturday afternoon for a table, giving us enough time to peruse the massive record selection and learn a bit more about the…

I walked in vowing to only spend $30 and walked out having dropped a cool $100. I was surprised to find a few records I've been looking for new. I was also really impressed by their huge classical collection that's well organized and with a billion understock records for 99c each.

Amazing store with such a diverse collection of record labels. What I love the most about this store is that used vinyls are available at a good price. Plus they also have a good collection of CDs and audio cassettes as well. They also have a fun section called the “Grab Bags” that have a bag of 5 mystery CDs.
